The GBPA is committed to conserving the largest freshwater archipelago in the world. Georgian Bay was designated a UNESCO-recognized Biosphere in 2004 and has over 30,000 islands, and we need a collective effort to protect one of Ontario’s most important waterways.
To ensure a sustainable future for Georgian Bay we need to prioritize local environmental advocacy goals including freshwater management, shoreline protection, and watershed regulation. More specifically, GBPA is fighting for 6 key pillars:
· Regulating Floating Accommodations
· Reducing Microplastics
· Improving Sewage Infrastructure
· Supporting Shoreline Protections
· Improving Local Water Quality
· The Clean Community Initiative
